Project Applications for 2022/23 will open in early MT.

Engineers Without Borders Oxford is part of an international development organisation that removes barriers to development through engineering and is part of a global movement to engineer a better future.

We aim to provide opportunities for members of the Oxford community to partake in research projects that tackle poverty using engineering. These projects span many different areas of engineering and we are always looking for new projects to run within the society.

Most importantly, you do not need to be an engineering student to be a part of EWBOx!

This Year's Projects

MACHINE LEARNING
FOR MEDICAL IMAGING

Investigate Machine Learning (ML) methods for medical imaging, aiming to automate tasks that are often challenging, time-consuming, and would otherwise require a high level of medical expertise.

LANDMINE DETECTION USING ROBOTICS

Design, build and test a landmine detection robot that can navigate the rough terrain of a minefield. Aim to design a dust collection system that collects and store mud samples from the ground.

WATER FILTRATION
PROJECT

The project aims to develop a novel approach to addressing the medical problem of urinary incontinence in children through a wearable real-time bladder monitoring device that can accurately alert patients of the need to urinate.

YOUTH OUTREACH PROJECT

1. Run practical workshops for engineering in local schools.

2. Design a programming Bootcamp for sixth-form students.

Potentially plan an overseas trip.

RECYCLNG
PROJECT

Detailed research towards either:

1. Battery recycling techniques

2. Improved waste management policy for a local  organisation, with a particular focus on one food product
